About Us
Orleans Bath and Tile
Owner-operated. Schluter Certified. Mapei Certified for radiant heat and waterproofing. Based in Orléans, Ontario — built on the belief that a tile job done right the first time is the only kind worth doing.
A Technical Tile Specialist. Not a General Contractor Who Tiles on the Side.
Orleans Bath and Tile is a bathroom renovation and tile installation company based in Orléans, Ontario. We work across the Ottawa area — Orléans, Ottawa, Rockland, Kanata, Barrhaven, Cumberland, Navan, Gloucester, and surrounding communities.
This isn't a side business. Tile and bathroom renovations are all we do, and we do it at a level that most general contractors can't match because they're spread across too many trades. We know waterproofing systems, thinset chemistry, large format installation technique, Schluter product lines, and the specific challenges of building a bathroom assembly that stays intact for decades.
When you hire us, the person who quotes your project does your project. No handoff to a crew you've never met. No subcontractors. The same level of attention at installation that you got at the estimate.
The Standards We Hold Every Project To
Whether we're doing a bathroom renovation in Orléans, tile installation in Kanata, or a shower repair in Rockland — these principles are non-negotiable.
Waterproofing on Every Wet Area
Not cement board — a membrane system. Kerdi, liquid-applied, or DITRA depending on the application. No wet area leaves our hands without a real waterproof barrier behind the tile.
Substrate Before Tile
We don't tile over problems. If the subfloor is soft, the backer is wrong, or the shower slope is insufficient, we correct it before the first tile goes down. The work nobody sees is what makes the work everyone sees last.
Honest Communication
If a repair will solve your problem, we'll repair it. If a rebuild is what it needs, we'll tell you that upfront — not after we're three days in. You'll always know exactly what we're doing and why.
Clean, Respectful Job Sites
Your home gets treated like one. We protect adjacent flooring, contain dust, and leave the space clean at the end of every day. A renovation is already disruptive — we work to minimize it.
Schluter & Mapei Certified
Schluter Certified on DITRA, DITRA-HEAT, Kerdi, and the full Schluter profile line. Mapei Certified for radiant heat and waterproofing systems. Certified training means we spec the right product for each application.
Realistic Timelines
We tell you how long a project will take and we hit that timeline. If something unexpected comes up — and in renovation work, sometimes it does — you hear about it immediately, not after it's caused a delay.
The Training Behind the Work
Certifications aren't just credentials — they're evidence of investment in doing the work correctly. Here's what we've trained and tested on:
- Schluter Certified — DITRA, DITRA-HEAT, Kerdi waterproofing systems, and the full Schluter profile line
- Mapei Certified — Certified in Mapei radiant heat and waterproofing systems — correct product selection, substrate preparation, and application for long-term performance
- Waterproofing Systems — Membrane installation, wet area assembly design, drain slope and movement joint requirements
- Large Format Tile — Substrate flatness requirements, back-buttering technique, leveling system installation
- Heated Floor Systems — DITRA-HEAT and Mapei radiant cable installation, ohm testing, thermostat coordination

We work close to home — which means faster response times, genuine local knowledge, and a reputation built in the communities where we live and work.
Professional Equipment
The Right Tools for Large-Format Tile & Precision Work
Most tile contractors use basic wet saws and standard vacuums. Orleans Bath and Tile invests in professional-grade equipment purpose-built for large-format tile, dustless cutting, and flat-floor flatness correction — because the tools directly affect the quality of the finished result.
Niche Cuts, Mitered Corners & Internal Angles
A standard wet saw slides the tile into the blade — on large format slabs, this creates deflection and vibration that chips rectified edges and produces angled cuts. A bridge saw holds the tile on a full-length bed while the blade travels on fixed overhead rails. The geometry is rigid regardless of tile weight or size.
This matters for:
- Shower niches — L-cuts that must be perfectly square with zero chipping on rectified edges
- Internal corners — cuts accurate to 1–2mm where walls meet or where tile meets a niche opening
- Mitered 45° corners — two tiles beveled to meet in a seamless edge, no raw edge exposed — only achievable cleanly on a bridge saw with a tilt-head blade
- Large panel cuts — 24×48 and larger pieces cut without the slab walking or vibrating mid-cut
HEPA Filtration — Not Just a Shop Vac
Cutting porcelain and natural stone generates respirable crystalline silica — classified by IARC as a Group 1 carcinogen. Standard shop vacuums recirculate fine particles back into the air. The Hilti VC 150-10 X uses Class H HEPA filtration: 99.995% capture efficiency at 0.3 microns.
Every cut, every grind, every demolition pass — the extractor runs. This protects:
- Your family — silica dust settles invisibly and re-enters the air for months if not captured at source
- Your HVAC system — unfiltered tile dust contaminates ducts and filters throughout the home
- Adjacent rooms — properly contained cutting means the rest of your home isn't coated in white dust by end of day
- The installer — occupational silica exposure is a serious long-term health risk; extraction is the correct way to work
The bottom line: The right tools produce cuts, finishes, and job sites that cheaper equipment cannot. A bridge saw is the reason a mitered shower niche corner is hairline-tight instead of gapped. A HEPA extractor is the reason your home is clean when we leave each day. These aren't upsells — they're what professional tile work requires.
